FAQ's
A semi-framed shower screen is an intermediate alternative to fully-framed and fully frameless shower screens. They are usually framed along the outside by a metal structure but do not have framing around their doors or sometimes along the height of their adjoining screen edges – this is why they are classified as ‘semi’ frameless.
In Australia, both semi frameless and frameless shower screens are required to be compliant with Australian standards that ensure safety. Semi-frameless shower screens need to be manufactured using toughened Grade A safety glass that doesn’t cause a safety/health risk if damaged and it needs to be at least 6 mm thick.
Semi-frameless shower screens are just like with any type of shower screen and when installed correctly they are extremely unlikely to ‘leak’ through the sealed edges of the shower screen. As with any other type of shower screen sometimes small amounts of water can pass through the small gaps between hinges or seams.
